What is the Anglo American Engineering Learnership Programme?
The Engineering Exposure Training Programme is designed to provide unemployed youth, especially from host communities, with essential technical skills in engineering trades. Successful candidates will undergo training at various stages, culminating in the completion of a trade test and obtaining an artisan qualification.
Learnership Duration:
- Year 1: Institutional training at the Engineering Skills Training Centre (ESTC)
- Year 2: On-the-job training at Mogalakwena Mine
- Year 3: Completion of trade test

- Fitter Learnership (1 Position)
- Boilermaker Plater Learnership (1 Position)
- Rigger Learnership (1 Position)
- Earthmoving Mechanic Learnership (2 Positions)
- Diesel Mechanic Learnership (2 Positions)
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
To apply for the Engineering Learnership Programme, candidates must meet the following educational qualifications:
- Matric Certificate with Mathematics, Physical Science, and English (minimum 40% in each subject), OR
- N2 Certificate with relevant trade subjects, OR
- NCV Level 4 in an appropriate trade (minimum 40% in all subjects)
Additionally, candidates must have:
- Mathematics, Engineering Science, and relevant Trade Theory as part of N2 or NCV qualifications.
- A valid South African ID and be a South African citizen.
- A driver’s license (preferable but not mandatory).
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Psychometric assessments and medical certificates of fitness will be required for successful applicants.
