Key Responsibilities
As Assistant Store Manager, you will:
- Drive sales and profitability through promotional campaigns, cross-selling, and superior customer service.
- Execute store operations including expense control, stock management, shrinkage, and admin processes.
- Ensure visual merchandising and store presentation aligns with the brand’s standards.
- Motivate, coach, and lead staff to reach performance goals, especially in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Manage daily staff scheduling based on labour policy and operational needs.
- Deliver exceptional customer service that boosts loyalty and club card participation.
- Oversee HR admin duties like attendance tracking and employee records.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Qualifications:
- Essential: Grade 12 with 50%+ in Maths & English
- Essential: Retail/Business Management Qualification (External applicants)
- Desirable: Degree in Retail/Business Management
Experience:
- At least 1 year in an assistant store management role (retail/FMCG)
- Or successful completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme
- Experience in financial management (budgets, P&L, financial ratios)
Knowledge & Skills
- Retail/FMCG operations & merchandising principles
- Stock, risk, cost, and compliance management
- HR processes and labour legislation (IR practices)
- Financial management and reporting
- Strong numeracy, communication, and customer service skills
- Computer literacy and ability to work with store systems
