The function of a Field Technician in Electronica is to help create, maintain and repair the electronic components and equipment used in any equipment or device that involves electricity.

Primary responsibility of the function will be to assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools, diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

3+ years’ experience in the electrical trade
Able to work well on a team
Capable of lifting and carrying a minimum of 30 kg without assistance
Demonstrable knowledge and skills for electrical installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment
Excellent hand-eye coordination
High school diploma
Read Seal certificate
Relevant Health and Safety training

DUTIES AND REPSPONSIBILITIES:

 

Analyse and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems
Anticipate any potential risks, identifying and establishing corrective actions
Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials
Inspect wiring and fixtures for conformance to college specifications or local electrical codes
Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit.

 

Pull wiring through conduit
Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.

 

Repair faulty equipment or systems
Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follow diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring
Produce deliverables on-time
Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.

 

Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.

 

Connect power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor.

 

Install grounding leads
Support in expediting completion of field paperwork, expediting materials
Support in performing root cause analysis and resolve problems
Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery, buzzer, and oscilloscope

 

Track activities as per Company internal documentation
Wire and install equipment and fixtures such as motors.

 

generators, inverters, PV panels as well as control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels
