SANRAL SCHOLARSHIPS
If you are a high school learner in
South Africa in grades 8 to 12, you can
apply for the scholarship towards
your school expense, no matter what
subjects you’re studying.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR A SANRAL SCHOLARSHIP
To qualify you must:
• Be a South African citizen
• Be registered at an endorsed South
African school
• Be applying for grades 8 to 12
• Meet a minimum overall academic
average of 60%
• Have a household income of less than
R550,000 per year
• Complete an application form in full
and include all necessary supporting
documents
WHAT THE SCHOLARSHIP COVERS T
• School fees and boarding school
(if applicable) fees
• School and sports uniforms
• Books and stationery
• Reputable school transportation
(where applicable)
• Extra classes
(Maths and Science only)
• Registration (where applicable)
Tuition costs are paid directly
to your school once SANRAL
receives your school fees
statement.
THE FOLLOWING MUST ACCOMPANY YOUR APPLICATIONS FORM
LETTERS OF MOTIVATION
• By your parents
• By yourself (2 pages): Tell us about yourself
and explain why you would like to receive a
SANRAL scholarship.
• Motivation and support letter from your school
CERTIFIED DOCUMENT COPIES
• Your June academic results
• Your ID document or birth certificate
(you must be a South African citizen)
• ID documents of your parents/legal guardian
PROOF OF RESIDENCE
• Water and electricity bill from the local council
in the name of your parents/legal guardian
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT
• Proof of income/affidavit (if parent(s)/legal
guardian works in the informal sector or from
home, you must submit an affidavit on their
earnings)

SANRAL has a limited number of scholarships to give out each year.
The scholarship award is subject to positive verification of the
applicant’s credentials as provided in the application
