About the Programme (uMngeni-uThukela Water Learnership)
uMngeni-uThukela Water, through its Training and Development Department and the support of the Operations Division, is offering a one-year Water & Waste Water Treatment Learnership Programme.
This programme is designed for 20 dynamic and ambitious candidates who have completed Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science and are interested in pursuing a career in the water industry.
Learners will undergo:
- Intense theoretical and practical training
- Classroom learning and skills development
- Completion of a Portfolio of Evidence (POE)
- Hands-on practical training at Richards Bay and Jozini Water Treatment Plants
This is a great opportunity for youth who want to further their studies, gain industry-related skills, and secure a pathway into the water services sector.
Minimum Requirements
To apply for uMngeni-uThukela Water Learnership Applicants must:
- Be unemployed
- Have Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Physical Science
- Be 35 years or younger
- Reside in deep rural areas of uMkhanyakude District or uMdoni Local Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal
- Provide proof of residence (letter from the Traditional Authority Office for village residents – authenticity will be verified)
- Not hold any qualification at NQF Level 5 or above
