Role Purpose

The main objective of the Apprentice Fitter & Turner role is to undergo structured training and practical exposure to become a qualified tradesman. Apprentices will gain knowledge, technical skills, and hands-on experience to succeed in the engineering trade.

Key Responsibilities

As an Apprentice Fitter and Turner, you will:

• Complete the 3–4-year apprenticeship programme as per company and SETA requirements.
• Work in compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
• Gain practical skills and knowledge in plant operations, machinery, and maintenance.
• Assist with locating plant, equipment, spares, and documentation systems.
• Plan, budget, and prepare for allocated jobs.
• Evaluate, troubleshoot, and repair equipment breakdowns.
• Continuously improve and optimise plant processes and systems.
• Build machine-specific technical competence through training.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Physical Science.
• Minimum N4 National Technical Certificate in Fitting & Turning.
• Higher qualifications (N5/N6 in Engineering) will be advantageous.
• Strong engineering aptitude and technical ability.

• Ability to work in teams and independently.
• Self-driven, motivated, and action-oriented.
• Strong communication and coaching ability.
• Flexible to work shifts, overtime, and attend training in Johannesburg.
