About the Job: Artisan Diesel Mechanic (TMM)

De Beers Group is recruiting for an Artisan Diesel Mechanic (TMM) to join the Venetia Mine in Musina, Limpopo. This is a permanent role where you will play a critical part in the maintenance and repair of underground mining trackless mobile machinery (TMM).

You will work directly under the Senior Engineering Foreman and help ensure equipment reliability, availability, and adherence to the highest safety standards in one of South Africa’s largest underground infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

As an Artisan Diesel Mechanic, you will:

• Maintain and repair diesel-powered vehicles, engines, and mechanical systems.
• Build and assemble machinery and mechanical components as required.
• Inspect engines, transmissions, and run diagnostics to identify faults.
• Troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns efficiently to reduce downtime.
• Conduct thorough preventative maintenance to maximize reliability.
• Keep accurate logs, complete inspections, and report defects as per Mine Health & Safety Act.
• Plan maintenance schedules in line with production requirements.
• Train and support subordinates while upholding safety, health, and environmental standards.
• Ensure adherence to Zero Harm policies and De Beers values.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this position, applicants must have:

• Grade 12 / N3 or equivalent NQF Level 4 with Mathematics & Physical Science.
• Trade Test Certificate: Diesel Mechanic.
• Valid EB / Code 8 Driver’s Licence.
• 3+ years’ continuous experience as a Diesel Mechanic in underground mining TMM maintenance.
• Experience in maintaining and repairing equipment such as:
  • Drill Rigs (DD320, DD321, DD420, DD421 & DD422i)
  • Long Hole Rigs (DL421, DL422i, DL432i & Rhino Machine)
  • Cable Bolters (DS421, DS422i & DS412i)
  • Roof Bolters (DS411)
  • Maclean Bolter (946)
  • LHDs (LH410, LH517i & LH621i)
  • Dump Trucks (TH430, TH540 & TH551i)
  • Shotcrete (Normet), Manitou and Agicars.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Computer literacy (MS Office Suite).

Advantageous: Active Proto team membership.
