City of Ekurhuleni General Worker Job Purpose
To perform manual labour and assist in the upkeep of municipal assets, infrastructure, and public areas, ensuring a clean, safe, and functional environment for residents and visitors.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 (or equivalent)
- Must be a South African citizen
- Resident of Ekurhuleni (Ward number required)
- Currently unemployed
- Not participating in any CoE Job Creation programme
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions from supervisors
Key Responsibilities
As a General Worker, your duties will include:
- Cleaning, sweeping, grass cutting, planting, and refuse collection
- Digging and assisting with basic site preparation work
- Performing general maintenance of municipal infrastructure and assets
- Operating hand tools and small equipment under supervision
- Loading and offloading materials, tools, and equipment
- Following workplace safety rules and ensuring the safety of others
- Reporting hazards, faults, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor
- Assisting municipal teams during public events, clean-up campaigns, and emergency responses
- Cooperating with team members and municipal officials to complete assigned tasks
- Performing other general work duties as directed by the immediate supervisor
Important Notes
- Applicants currently involved in other job creation projects are not eligible until they have completed a six-month cooling-off period after their last participation.
- You may be required to submit proof of your qualification level (NQF).
