The Department of Social Development of the Western Cape Government is inviting applications for the role of Driver/Handyman at the Horizon Secure Care Centre. This position combines driving responsibilities with hands-on maintenance and administrative support.

Position Details (Driver Handyman)

• Salary: R163 680 – R192 810 per annum (Level 03)
• Centre: Department of Social Development, Western Cape Government

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Experience: At least 7 months relevant experience.
• License: Valid Code B or higher driving license (people with disabilities restricting driving but with reasonable access to transport may also apply).
• Competencies:
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.
  • Strong relationship management and independent thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

Key Duties

• Repair broken furniture and equipment.
• Report defects and ensure safekeeping of maintenance tools and supplies.
• Maintain stock materials and notify the manager of shortages.
• Procure maintenance materials in a timely manner.
• Assist with asset movement, disposal, and accurate record-keeping.
