About the YES Programme

The Youth Employment Service (YES) is a joint initiative led by the Presidency and the private sector to fight youth unemployment in South Africa. Eskom, as a leader in the energy and electricity sector, is proud to participate in this initiative by creating valuable work opportunities for unemployed youth.

This programme offers a life-changing first work experience within Eskom Operations nationwide. Successful candidates will gain practical exposure, professional skills, and a steppingstone into the job market.

Key Responsibilities

As part of the YES Programme, participants will:

• Gain hands-on work experience within Eskom Operations.
• Support different departments and business units across the energy sector.
• Learn about workplace professionalism, safety, and compliance standards.
• Develop skills that improve employability and career prospects.
• Contribute to Eskom’s mission of delivering reliable energy to South Africa.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for Eskom YES Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Age: 18 – 34 years old
• Citizenship: South African citizen
• Education: Grade 12 or equivalent (post-matric certificate/programme an advantage)
• Must not have been employed permanently with one employer for more than 12 months
• Must not be studying full-time in 2025
• Must not have participated in the YES Programme before
