Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) or NCV Level 4
- Proficiency in at least two official languages, one of which must be English
- Be a South African citizen
- No previous criminal convictions or pending cases
- Computer literacy
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
- Relevant experience, tertiary qualification or developmental courses will be an advantage
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates for SAPS Secretary will be responsible for:
- Providing full secretarial and administrative support
- Typing reports, memoranda, letters, and correspondence
- Managing diaries and scheduling appointments
- Coordinating travel, accommodation, and subsistence claims
- Maintaining filing systems and document control
- Handling incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Answering and making telephone calls professionally
- Supporting meetings, workshops, and official engagements
- Handling confidential documents
- Operating office equipment (computers, printers, photocopiers, fax)
- Managing office inventory and refreshments
- Willingness to work extended hours when required
Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates will undergo:
- Fingerprint screening and security vetting
- Reference and address verification
- Integrity (ethical conduct) assessment
- Practical and competency-based assessments
- Interviews
- Forensic DNA sampling (as required by law)
Candidates listed on the National Register for Sex Offenders or Child Protection Register will be disqualified.
