JOB PURPOSE (SECURITY OFFICERS)
The successful candidates for Security Officers will be responsible for providing effective physical security services at DPCI facilities by ensuring strict access control, safeguarding of state property, personnel, visitors, vehicles, and equipment, and maintaining a secure working environment in line with applicable legislation and security prescripts.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants for Security Officers, must meet the following requirements:
- South African citizen
- No criminal record or pending cases
- Must successfully undergo vetting, security screening, and fingerprint verification
- Proficiency in at least two official languages, one of which must be English
- Minimum qualification: Grade 10 (Standard 8) / BET (NQF Level 3)
- Valid PSIRA registration certificate
- Minimum Grade C Security Certificate or higher
- Not declared unfit to possess a firearm
- Willingness to undergo and maintain firearm competency training
- Willing to work shifts, night duty, weekends, and extended hours
Added Advantages
- Degree or Diploma in Security Services or related field
- Relevant security-related courses
- Valid driver’s licence (light motor vehicle)
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful candidates for Security Officers will be required to perform the following duties:
- Enforce access control in accordance with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act (Act 53 of 1985)
- Conduct positive identification of employees, visitors, contractors, and maintenance personnel
- Register all visitors and issue admission control cards
- Perform electronic and physical searches where required
- Ensure compliance with all security protocols before granting access
- Confirm visits with host officials and ensure proper escorting
- Control and monitor entry of vehicles, goods, equipment, and suppliers
- Guard state vehicles and equipment on-site and in the field
- Conduct regular security patrols of buildings and fenced areas
- Inspect security equipment and facilities and report defects
- Supervise cleaners and maintenance staff strictly from a security perspective
- Assist senior security personnel when required
- Report security risks, incidents, and irregularities promptly
