About Triton Academy

Triton Academy, a TETA-accredited training provider, offers specialised courses in Freight Handling and Professional Driving across Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town. The Academy equips unemployed youth and staff with industry-recognised qualifications and practical workplace experience, preparing them for long-term careers in logistics and supply chain.

This 12-month National Certificate: Freight Handling Learnership is aimed at empowering South African youth through structured theoretical training and on-the-job learning.

Key Responsibilities

As part of the Triton Academy Learnership, learners will gain hands-on skills in:

  • Loading and off-loading goods from vehicles.
  • Preparing vehicles for trips.
  • Receiving, dispatching, and handling freight documentation.
  • Performing warehouse and transport-related duties.
  • Delivery and collection of goods.
  • Picking, packing, stacking, and securing goods for transport.
  • General housekeeping and maintaining safe, clean workspaces.

Learning & Development

The programme includes:

  • Classroom-based training aligned with TETA unit standards.
  • Workplace experience at the Germiston branch.
  • Mentorship and assessments to prepare for external verification.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this Triton Academy Learnership, applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen aged 23–35 years.
  • Have Grade 12, TVET N3, or NQF Level 2 qualification with at least 40% in Maths and English.
  • Be medically fit.
  • Have a clear criminal record.
  • Be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Be numerically orientated.
  • Be willing to work weekends and shifts.
  • Reside in Germiston, Alberton, Boksburg, or Johannesburg.
  • Be available to work 08:00 – 18:00.
