The Office of the Chief Justice is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Typist to join the Mpumalanga Division of the High Court in Middleburg. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with strong typing skills and an interest in the legal environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate
- No experience required
- Minimum typing speed: 35 words per minute
- A valid driver’s licence is an advantage
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, rules and court environment
- Understanding of the Public Service and Batho Pele Principles
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
- Good typing skills (35 wpm)
- Excellent written and verbal communication

- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good time management
- Professional telephone etiquette
Key Duties & Responsibilities
As a Typist, you will be responsible for:
- Typing court orders, court documents and various legal reports
- Typing reviews, appeals, minutes, memorandums, circulars, witness statements and taxing master reports
- Typing Rule 6(12) orders and ensuring availability in terms of the rule
- Typing judgments and making amendments as per judges’ instructions
- Sorting, managing and distributing incoming and outgoing files
- Compiling the term roll, week roll, unopposed/opposed motion rolls and maintaining registers
- Drafting term rolls according to the Gazetted court terms
- Typing supplementary rolls
- Submitting relevant judgments and orders to the correct stakeholders
- Providing Advocate enrolment orders to the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development
- Sending all judgments to the designated reporting official for SAFlii
