Call for UNISA Internships

The University of South Africa (UNISA) invites applications from unemployed South African citizens for participation in the 12-month Internship Programme 2026. This programme is aimed at providing workplace experience to UNISA graduates who have completed a qualification at NQF Level 6 or higher.

UNISA values diversity, inclusion, and universal access. Preference will be given to persons living with disabilities, and appointments will be made in line with UNISA’s Employment Equity Plan.

Who May Apply for UNISA Internships

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must be a UNISA graduate in the relevant field of study
  • Qualification must be at NQF Level 6 or above
  • Must be 35 years old or younger
  • Must have no prior work experience
  • Applicants previously appointed at UNISA or any other organisation will not be considered
  • Students with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Applications for multiple internship posts must be submitted separately
  • The position reference number and UNISA student number must be correctly captured on the application portal

Internship Duration and Benefits

  • Duration: 12-month Internship Agreement
  • Assumption of Duty: 01 March 2026
  • Stipend: R127 576.00 per annum

Administration and Management

Communication, Marketing and Public Relations

  • Qualification: Diploma or Degree in Communication Studies, Communication Science, Marketing, Public Relations, Administration or Accounting

UNISA Internships Application Process

Applications must be submitted online via the official UNISA Internship Programme application portal. The system will only allow access to UNISA students and graduates.
