About the Programme (Work Integrated Learner)
Transnet is offering an exciting Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Trainee Programme (Non-Technical) designed for students and recent graduates who are eager to gain practical workplace experience.
This 12-month programme allows participants to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world environment while developing professional skills that improve employability. Learners will benefit from structured mentorship, industry exposure, and hands-on training in administration, leadership development, research, and communication.
Key Responsibilities
As a Work Integrated Learner, you will:
Task Execution
- Assist in projects within the assigned department or work-stream.
- Perform routine operational and administrative tasks under supervision.
- Support documentation, record-keeping, and reporting functions.
Learning & Development
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programmes.
- Shadow experienced professionals to gain workplace insights.
- Engage in problem-solving activities to enhance critical thinking.
Communication & Collaboration
- Interact with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to understand business needs.
- Provide regular progress updates on assigned tasks and projects.
- Act as a contact point for queries and administrative support.
Research & Analysis
- Conduct market research, data analysis, and report preparation.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Use MS Office tools to draft presentations and business documents.
Compliance & Safety
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Uphold professional and ethical standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all tasks.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Matric certificate or equivalent.
- Completed all theoretical subjects in one of the following:
- N6 in Office Management
- Human Resources
- Marketing Management
- Logistics & Communication
- Must be a South African citizen, aged 18–35.
- No active bursary obligation with another company.
- Preference will be given to People with Disabilities.
- Proof required: Institutional letter, certified Matric certificate, academic record, and ID.
Competencies & Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office).
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn.
