Job Summary
Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) is seeking a skilled and experienced Handyman to perform a wide range of building maintenance tasks across campus facilities. This internal vacancy is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in general maintenance and a commitment to quality workmanship and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical maintenance in academic and residential buildings
- Use BMJLS system to manage and close job cards
- Prioritize and schedule maintenance work effectively
- Assist contractors on site and support departmental projects
- Conduct routine building inspections
- Comply with all health and safety standards
- Execute other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Foreman or Manager
Minimum Requirements for CPUT Handyman
- Grade 10 / Standard 8
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant maintenance experience
- Construction industry experience (advantageous)
Recommended Qualifications
- Matric / Grade 12 or NQF equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
Preference will be given to internal qualifying applicants
