The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is offering short-term employment opportunities through the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) for suitably qualified individuals passionate about administration and data management. This opportunity is ideal for youth, women, and people with disabilities who want to gain valuable municipal work experience while contributing to sustainable service delivery.

About the Data Capturing and Cleaner Opportunity

The EPWP: Administration – Data Capturing position focuses on providing efficient administrative support to the EPWP Unit and ensuring accurate and timely data entry into the EPWP Reporting System (EPWPRS).

Minimum Requirements

Applicants for Data Capturing and Cleaner must meet the following criteria:

  • South African Citizen
  • Reside within the jurisdiction of the City of Johannesburg
  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 or equivalent
  • At least 6 months of administration and data capturing experience
  • Working knowledge of EPWPRS (advantageous)
  • Willingness to undergo a computer-based assessment
  • Youth (18 – 35 years) and women will be prioritised
  • Persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply (proof of disability required)

Primary Responsibilities

  • Capture EPWP data accurately into the relevant systems
  • Provide general office administrative support
  • Maintain proper filing and record-keeping for the EPWP Unit
  • Assist with document preparation and minute-taking during meetings
  • Support the coordination of EPWP-related projects and activities

Skills and Competencies

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Coordination and organisational skills
  • Minute-taking and basic report-writing
  • Attention to detail and high accuracy

Core Competencies:

  • Knowledge of EPWP and EPWPRS systems
  • Understanding of local government operations and public administration legislation
  • Familiarity with Batho Pele principles
