Successful candidates will be employed as Dispensary Support until they are registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as Learner Basic Pharmacist Assistants, after which permanent employment may be offered upon qualification.

About the Dispensary Support Programme
The Dispensary Support programme equips learners with foundational knowledge and practical experience in the pharmaceutical environment. The programme focuses on dispensing principles, medicine handling, patient service, and regulatory compliance, while promoting quality on-the-job learning under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.
Minimum Requirements – Dispensary Support
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate with:
- Pure Mathematics – minimum 50%
- Life Sciences and/or Physical Science – minimum 50% average
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Dispensary Support staff will perform the following duties under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist:
- Sell Schedule 1 medicines and scheduled substances
- Assist with the preparation and compounding of non-sterile medicines according to SOPs
- Assist with unpacking, merchandising, and cleaning of dispensary and OTC shelves
- Accurately interpret prescriptions in line with SAPC legal requirements
- Pick, pack, label, and check medication while being aware of dosages and drug interactions
- Ensure all medication is checked and signed off by a pharmacist
- Assist with stock control, shelf organisation, and expiry date management (Schedule 1–5)
- Follow up with patients regarding script tracking and appointments
- Assist with call centre scripts and patient service telephone calls
- Provide basic health information to patients
- Assist with medical scheme authorisations (chronic, HIV/AIDS, oncology)
- Report low or out-of-stock items and stock discrepancies
- Receive and manage dispensary stock in accordance with company SOPs
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dispensary Manager

Special Conditions of Employment

- Successfully complete a proficiency test for SAPC registration
- Be a South African citizen
- Have a clear criminal and credit record (MIE checks)
