Job Overview

Vaal Central Water is seeking reliable and motivated General Assistants to join their Operations team in Kimberley. This role is ideal for individuals eager to gain practical, hands-on experience in pipeline and plant maintenance while contributing to essential water services in the Northern Cape Region.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment
• Assist with repairs on bulk pipelines, including excavation, bedding, and backfilling
• Conduct weekly inspections of pipelines, manholes, and reservoirs
• Maintain housekeeping of pump stations across the region
• Support repairs of pumps, valves, and treatment plant equipment
• Perform manual labour such as digging, welding, painting, and sewer line maintenance
• Carry out gardening, grass cutting, tree felling, and terrain upkeep
• Follow all safety procedures and wear PPE as required
• Adhere to company regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards
• Execute additional duties as instructed by supervisors

Minimum Requirements General Assistants

• Grade 10 or equivalent
• Knowledge of water treatment plants and pump stations (advantageous)
• Valid driver’s license (advantageous)
• Physically fit and capable of working in outdoor and manual labour environments
