Internship Overview (Hospitality Trainee)

Ekurhuleni West TVET College is inviting suitably qualified graduates to apply for an 18-Month Hospitality Trainee Internship at the Germiston Campus. This programme provides workplace exposure for N6 Hospitality Certificate holders who require practical experience to complete their qualifications.

The role offers hands-on training in hospitality management, kitchen operations, event coordination, and food service, making it an excellent opportunity for graduates eager to kickstart their careers in the hospitality and catering industry.

Key Responsibilities

As a Hospitality Trainee, your duties will include:

• Ordering and stock control: Compiling, placing orders, and conducting food and equipment stock takes.
• Storekeeping: Issuing ingredients and maintaining accurate records.
• Nutrition & menu planning: Assisting in planning healthy and cost-effective menus.
• Classroom support: Assisting lecturers with demonstrations and practical lessons.
• Catering support: Cooking meals for the crèche and supporting student restaurant days.
• Supplier liaison: Communicating with suppliers and generating quotations.
• Event management: Assisting with and supervising college functions and hospitality events.
• Health & safety compliance: Updating MSDS records, ensuring kitchen OHS requirements are met.
• Student supervision: Overseeing students during functions and restaurant service days.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered, applicants must have:

• An N6 Hospitality Certificate.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and in a team environment.
