Mine Technical Support Learnership Overview

Tshipi Borwa Mine is offering six (6) Mine Technical Support Learnership opportunities (18.2 programme) for motivated youth from the John Taolo Gaetsewe District. This 12-month fixed-term contract is designed to provide essential skills, workplace exposure, and professional development in Geology, Surveying, and Sampling – key functions within the mining sector.

  • Location: Kathu, Northern Cape
  • Duration: 12 Months
  • Remuneration: Market Related Stipend
  • Closing Date: 8 September 2025

Programme Highlights (Mine Technical Support Learnership)

Geology

  • Assist with mapping and core logging.
  • Help collect and record geological data.
  • Support drilling and sampling activities.

Sampling

  • Collect, label, and deliver samples to the laboratory.
  • Capture and record sampling data accurately.

Surveying

  • Assist with measurements and fieldwork.
  • Help set out survey pegs/points.
  • Update and maintain survey records and plans.

General Responsibilities

  • Follow all mine health and safety rules.
  • Keep tools and equipment clean and properly stored.
  • Record daily tasks and report to supervisors.
  • Show enthusiasm, professionalism, and a willingness to learn from experienced mining professionals.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered, applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Science.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Proof of residence, including high school attended, in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District.
  • The ability to obtain a valid medical fitness certificate.
  • Willingness to complete a Dover Assessment as part of the recruitment process.
