Are you passionate about beauty, cosmetics, and retail sales? Dis-Chem Pharmacies is offering a dynamic Learnership (NQF Level 3) in Johannesburg, perfect for young South Africans ready to launch their career in the beauty retail space.

This 12-month learnership provides hands-on experience in promoting and selling Dis-Chem’s beauty products while delivering exceptional customer service. Successful candidates will gain valuable knowledge, practical skills, and work-readiness training within South Africa’s leading pharmacy group.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric certificate (essential)
South African citizen
Willing and able to work retail hours, including weekends
Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Added Advantage:

Previous work or exposure in the beauty or cosmetics industry

Key Responsibilities

Stock Control

Monitor product expiry dates and report damaged/expired stock
Ensure shelves are always stocked with the full product range
Participate in stock takes and stock rotation
Maintain neat and organised storeroom
Flatten packaging and follow proper disposal procedures

Merchandising

Maintain clean, appealing displays in-store and window areas
Conduct cosmetic demonstrations, makeovers, and product promotions
Label and price all stock accurately
Restock merchandise and assist with stock loading/off-loading
Adhere to stock layout and display principles

Customer Service

Offer friendly, helpful, and professional service
Assist customers with product queries and brand preferences
Process payments at the Cosmetics Point of Sale (POS)
Work towards monthly sales targets across various beauty brands

Core Competencies

Basic sales and promotions knowledge
Strong communication & listening skills (English fluency required)
Interpersonal and self-management skills
Computer literacy and basic financial understanding
Trustworthy, reliable, and customer-focused

Special Conditions

Must pass criminal and credit checks (MIE clearance)
Must be willing to work flexi-hours / weekends / public holidays

Stipend & Benefits

A monthly stipend will be provided during the learnership period
Work-based training and mentorship from experienced beauty advisors
