Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for two (2) Shift Leader positions within the Department of Campus Protection Services at the Soshanguve Campus. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring the safety, security, and protection of students, staff, and university property.

Key Responsibilities

As a Shift Leaders, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of safety and security operations across campus. Your core duties include:

  • Ensuring the safety of students, employees, buildings, and vehicles at all times.
  • Monitoring and controlling daily shift activities for compliance and effectiveness.
  • Enforcing the disciplinary code of conduct and taking corrective action in cases of misconduct.
  • Scheduling and supervising shift functions to maximize productivity with available resources.
  • Planning, assigning, and reviewing the work of security personnel.
  • Ensuring tasks and reports are completed on time and with quality standards.
  • Reporting incidents promptly to the Security Officer or Deputy Director of Security Services.
  • Leading emergency responses until a senior officer assumes responsibility.
  • Conducting regular inspections of all posts under your shift.
  • Managing traffic control duties after hours.
  • Receiving, inspecting, and logging shift vehicles, including recording damages and trip details.
  • Monitoring and reporting lighting deficiencies during patrols.

Minimum Requirements for Shift Leaders

Academic Qualifications:

  • NQF Level 4 qualification
  • National Senior Certificate (NSC) or equivalent
  • Grade B PSIRA-accredited security training certification

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of relevant security or protection services experience.

Professional Registration:

  • Must be registered with PSIRA (Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority).
